Bomb Disposal Team Prepared to Secure VVIPs at Independence Day at IKN – 2024-08-04 13:50:00

The bomb disposal team is on standby to secure VVIP guests at the commemoration ceremony of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN), North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, August 17, 2024.

“We have prepared and put a bomb disposal team on standby to secure VVIPs during state events at the IKN, as well as tactical vehicles,” explained the Commander of the East Kalimantan Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit, Senior Commissioner Pol Andy Rifai, as quoted by Antara. The Mobile Brigade Unit (Brimob) of the East Kalimantan Regional Police has also prepared tactical vehicles that will be on standby to secure the ceremony to commemorate the Indonesian Independence Day at the IKN.

These tactical vehicles include water cannons and water gen, baraccuda, armoured personnel carrier (APC), ICT or radio trucks, as well as ambulances and others.

A number of vehicles are equipped with steel plating and bulletproof vests and all units have been prepared in the yard of the Batalyon A Pelopor Brimob Polda Kaltim Building.

“The vehicles will be sent to the IKN to support security during Indonesia’s anniversary celebrations,” he added.

Security is carried out not only on land, but also at sea, where the Brimob Unit of the East Kalimantan Regional Police deployed sea rider vehicles.

Sea rider vehicles carry out security at sea together with water vehicles from the Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the East Kalimantan Regional Police and the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL).

“The tactical vehicles prepared are sufficient to support the security of the IKN VVIP,” he said.

“We have also prepared a number of additional equipment to be placed in Samarinda City,” he said again.

The additional equipment includes a field kitchen and a number of operational vehicles prepared for the August 17, 2024 independence celebration at the IKN. (Ant/P-5)
