Islamabad: A policeman was killed in a car bomb blast at a checkpoint. Many people in the area and in other vehicles were injured. Islamabad Operations Police Chief Sohail Zafar said that there was a man and a woman in the car that exploded. The explosion occurred at 10.15 am local time on Friday.
The explosion happened when the police tried to check the man out of the car. Among the injured are 4 policemen. Pak Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast. Home Minister Rana Sanaullah responded that the terrorists must have targeted the main center of the capital city of Pakistan.
The explosion was near the police headquarters. This road leads to the main government buildings including Parliament. There was a warning that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorists would attack in Islamabad. Keeping this in mind, the police have tightened the inspection.
