During her speech, the president, who has been in the Government Palace for more than a month, stated that she will not resign from office and urged the leftist leaders – who have called for her resignation – to also condemn the violence that occurs during the protests, alluding to the looting of some stores, the blocking of roads and the death of a policeman.

“They ask for my vacancy to generate chaos (…) I am not going to resign, my commitment is with Peru and not with a tiny group that is making the country bleed“, said.
