Ten days following the restart of the protests in southern Peru, the President of the Republic, In Boluarteaddressed the Peruvians through a message to the Nation where he asked the Congress of the Republic to advance the second vote in order to define the new General Elections for 2024.
During her speech, the president, who has been in the Government Palace for more than a month, stated that she will not resign from office and urged the leftist leaders – who have called for her resignation – to also condemn the violence that occurs during the protests, alluding to the looting of some stores, the blocking of roads and the death of a policeman.
“They ask for my vacancy to generate chaos (…) I am not going to resign, my commitment is with Peru and not with a tiny group that is making the country bleed“, said.

In addition, Boluarte expressed that the release of the former president is not in his hands. Pedro Castillo, who today faces preventive detention for 18 months. “I’m not a judge, his case is being prosecuted,” she said. Immediately followingwards, he indicated that the request for a Constituent Assembly cannot be put into operation by the Executive and took the case of Chile as a reference, where the process is still ongoing.
“If we have made a mistake in something, I apologize to the Peruvian people, we will know how to improve”, he continued.

As you know, we agree to the investigations. But what regarding foreign bullies and infiltrators? Let everything be investigated to bring justice to the bereaved,” he said.
In this context, in which the population also requests compliance with social demands, the President of the Republic announced the activation of all the dialogue offices throughout the Executive, including that of the Council of Ministers, which will serve to comply with agreements . And it is that she affirmed that said dialogue tables are not rocking chairs for the people.
The President of the Republic also replied to the regional governor of Puno who reportedly declared her persona non grata. “A high-level commission has been in Puno and the authorities themselves tell them that they cannot receive them. Mr. Governor, how do you intend to meet the needs of your peoples (…) we must work without revenge, above ideologies ”, she indicated.
