As part of Operation Roraima 2023, officials from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb) captured four individuals engaged in illegal mining.
The citizens, who did not carry identification, were apprehended in the south of Bolívar state.
According to official information, the men were carrying weapons of war and military supplies.
The group was pointed out for engaging in the collection of “vaccines”, extortion and human trafficking for forced labor in the mines.
Said deployment corresponds to the work of military troops in defense of the environment and to stop armed groups, “that break into ecosystems and undermine the soil for the practice of illegal mining.”
“Venezuela is a State of law and justice, the illegal mining facilities will be dismantled and destroyed and the ecocidas will pay for their crimes in accordance with the law,” said General in Chief Domingo Hernández Lárez, strategic operational commander of the Fanb.
