Bojan Bogdanovic did not survive the rebuilding enterprise led by the Jazz this summer since the Croatian finally landed in Detroit, a team also in full “process”, in exchange for Kelly Olynyk and Saben Lee.
At the Pistons, Bojan Bogdanovic will bring his touch of experience within a young roster and his efficiency in the offensive sector, 3-point in particular. He will also be an important voice in the locker room alongside a Cory Joseph, with whom he played for two years in Indiana (2017-2019)
« I have to do what I know how to do, respond to all the matches., he confided following his first training in his new colors. “I must be one of the oldest here. So I have to be more vocally present. I have to talk to the young guys and try to steer them in the right direction, but my mindset will be the same. I want to give it my all in every game I play.”
One more ace up Dwane Casey’s sleeve
With 39.2% 3-point success in the NBA, Bojan Bogdanovic will also be invaluable in the eyes of his coach Dwane Casey in his ability to free up spaces for creators like Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey.
“He remains a versatile winger”, underlined the coach. “He’s smart, he can shoot, he knows the game. He knows how to play off the ball, and even if you don’t play with him, he opens up spaces for Cade (Cunningham), Jaden (Ivey) and Saddiq (Bey) . I watched it today. He’s there talking to guys, telling them what to do, how to do things. These are priceless things, and that’s why he’s precious to us right now.”
Bojan Bogdanovic will be among the options available to Cade Cunningham. His agreement with his leader will thus be one of the important elements to preserve the offensive balance of the team.
“He’s the franchise player. He is a great guy first and also a very good basketball player. By playing alongside him, it will give him more space. We’ve only been seeing each other for a few days, we’re going to take the time to get to know each other,” concluded the Croatian.
