Around fifteen parents of students attending school in the commune of Boissey-le-Châtel (Eure) decided, under the leadership of Serge Durand, director of the Marette et Prévret school, to form a small group responsible for helping the school cooperative to finance optional educational projects. A parents’ association existed two years ago, but it was dissolved due to lack of participants.

During the 2022-2023 school year, many parents wanted to get involved and this is how this group of parent volunteers was formed last September. This group is not an association, it is simply “backed” by the school cooperative which ensures management.

A rebound, following two years without an association

The group is chaired by Benjamin Letullier who details the actions already carried out: “At the beginning of October, we decided, as a first action, to create “The apple at school”, by making ourselves fruit jellies, juices and compotes with the help of the families of students at the Boissey-le-Châtel school. We harvested seasonal fruits, apples, pears, late peaches and glass juice and compote containers. We have chosen to only produce products with a long shelf life. » The products thus transformed will be resold during various operations throughout the year.

Activities all year round

These delicious family products are offered individually or in the form of a garnished basket. They are complemented by small decorative objects for Christmas. “We want there to be something for all budgets, from 50 cents to €15 for the full basket. We operate through the pre-order system and already 30 filled baskets are reserved. »

Other activities are planned for the school year. The list includes an escape game in the school, a lottery to finance the sea class and a barbecue fair in June.

The group of parents will be present to sell their creations during the Lego exhibition on December 9 and 10, 2023, as well as at the town’s Christmas market on December 16 in the followingnoon.
