Three business leaders have joined the ranks of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors.

John Colgrove, division president of the intermountain division of Albertsons, Fran Malecha, president and CEO of Amalgamated Sugar, and Paul Zurlo, an executive team leader with Blue Cross of Idaho, were voted into the board at its meeting on Sept. 7.

Chamber leadership said it “is excited to have these accomplished individuals join the board of directors. Their diverse backgrounds and extensive experience will help shape the chamber’s strategies and strengthen its commitment to promoting economic growth and prosperity in the Boise metropolitan area.”

Colgrove has an extensive background in the retail industry. Prior to his current position, he was the senior vice president of marketing and merchandising in Denver for Albertsons.

Before taking on the lead role at Amalgamated Sugar, Malecha was the president, CEO and director of Compass Minerals, Inc., for 10 years, and he has held senior positions at Viterra, Inc., a worldwide agricultural business. He has also worked for General Mills in the grain division for 14 years.

Zurlo has more than two decades of health care industry experience, focusing now on the evolving needs of customers. He has worked for WellPoint, Pfizer and EmblemHealth, joining Blue Cross of Idaho in 2016.

The chamber stated that each new board member will bring “valuable” insights from their respective industries to its leadership.
