Boiling JxC: Bullrich and Larreta fight for allies, prosecutors and the useful vote

2023-08-05 19:25:00

The last two times the faces were seen they barely greeted each other. One was in La Rural last Saturday and the other on Sunday in the bunker of the new governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres. His collaborators maintain few dialogues due to operational issues. But, eight days before the PASO, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Patricia Bullrich continue in a fight in which allies, support and strategy intersect to try to win the Juntos por el Cambio inmate.

The conquest of the radical vote and the attempt to become the “useful” option to defeat Kirchnerism were two of the axes of dispute.

In the first case, Bullrich added Ernesto Sanz yesterday to an act in Mar del Plata, who expressed: “There are thousands of radical militants throughout the country who are accompanying Patricia and the Force for Change.” And he stressed that for the August 13 election, “Patricia Bullrich is the person who has the courage, who has the strength, who has the track record, and who has the decency to govern the Argentina that is coming.” Sanz is the political godfather of the candidate for national senator for the Province, and head of the Buenos Aires UCR, Maximiliano Abad, the organizer of the massive meeting.

They battle for the radical vote and for the idea that only one can beat Massa

For his part, Larreta had just won the support of Facundo Manes and Rodrigo de Loredo from Cordoba, with whom he was in the Cordovan capital yesterday. To this is added the parallel agenda, especially in the north of the country, faced by the candidate for vice president and head of the national UCR, Gerardo Morales. In both the NOA and the NEA, the figure of the governor of Jujuy is better known following eight years as provincial president. And there, they believe in larretism, he might make a difference to the presidential candidate. This week Morales had a raid that took him to Salta, Tucumán, Misiones and Formosa.

At the same time, another fight that is being fought these days is for the useful vote. That is to say, for trying to establish which of the two would be the best vehicle to defeat Sergio Massa. In this framework, it is a dispute in the shadows where leaders, pre-candidates and operators of both played trying to install that idea.

Anyway, the truth is that Massa chose Bullrich as a rival with the slogan that he can be more accessible in a ballottage. However, the presidential candidate, in turn, believes that before the Minister of Economy she might win, even in the first round. She imagines a scenario, of winning the PASO, where she exceeds 40% and takes more than ten points from the ruling party in the October elections.

For his part, Larreta is convinced – and this is suggested by the numbers he sees in the polls – that the best candidate once morest Massa and even in his team assure that he is in a better position to win with a key argument: the “moderate” vote. , disenchanted, it is more likely that he can fight it while Bullrich, more run to one end, would cost him much more.

Another battle is being waged for control. In JxC they calculate, for the whole country, 155 thousand people who can take care of the tickets in all the provinces. Larretismo has been working in this direction with the help of mayors and territorial leaders of all kinds and partisan color.

The refusal of the former Minister of Security to enable a “V” so that in many municipalities they can take her and the head of Government as presidential candidates generated a wave of anger among the PRO mayors who promise to play hard. Among others, Julio Garro from La Plata, Ezequiel Galli from Olavarría, Sebastián Abella from Campana, Gustavo Posse in San Isidro or Pablo Petrecca in Junín.

The same happens with those who carry the bullrichista ticket: Manuel and Santiago Passaglia in San Nicolás, Diego Kravetz in Lanús or Marcelo Matzkin in Zárate. With everything in bullrichism they say they have the necessary prosecutors and the funds: regarding three million dollars. The leader Paula Bertol is in charge of the training.

Campaign closures. In this context, in the final stretch the head of government achieved another key support: that of María Eugenia Vidal, who already joined the final sprint of the campaign to collaborate with her friend of 27 years. In addition, on Tuesday, in one of the multiple closures that Larreta will have, he will add the three elected governors and two possible provincial leaders.

It will be at noon in Córdoba and Ignacio “Nacho” Torres, from Chubut, Marcelo Orrego from San Juan and Claudio Poggi from San Luis will be seen there. The three had already anticipated their vote for Larreta last year. Now they will balance before the STEP but their presence at the event will be key.

Both will be in Córdoba during the week. They want to add adhesions in the province

The three elected governors are joined by one of the Larretista shipowners who was fundamental: legislator Esteban “Larry” Garrido, who has been working with the three for three and a half years to achieve provincial victories. An extremely low-profile cultivator, Garrido was the political piece that managed to articulate the provincial armies and achieve three historic victories for JxC. They would be joined by Maximiliano Pullaro, the radical from Santa Fe, and Leandro Zdero, the radical who is competing for Chaco.

In any case, today Larreta will be with Pullaro in Santa Fe, on a long tour that will take him through Rafaela, Reconquista, San Cristóbal and Ciudad de Santa Fe. On Wednesday he will return to Rosario. The last act will be in La Plata with Diego Santilli and references from the interior of the country.

For his part, Bullrich showed his strength yesterday in Mar del Plata with Sanz plus Néstor Grindetti, the pre-candidate for governor, and Cristian Ritondo, head of the ballot for deputies. Today he will be in La Matanza with his candidate for mayor, Lalo Creus.

As for the closings, on Wednesday the candidate will be in Córdoba at 6:30 p.m. in the Plaza de la Música with her vice, Luis Petri. The next day he will have his last act: Grindetti prepared the Lanús micro-stadium for Bullrich to give his speech at 5:00 p.m. hours following the electoral ban.

No deal yet for the bunker

The conflict over a common bunker has not yet been resolved. At the close of this edition, Patricia Bullrich had not yet agreed to share the Costa Salguero property with Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, where the PRO has historically awaited the results of each election since Mauricio Macri was re-elected in CABA. Larreta reserved the place a month ago already. As PROFILE anticipated, Bullrich believes that the conditions are not right for there to be a joint bunker. She says that it is not “austere” and thinks that the photo together will be given following the results. Yesterday she was going to give a definitive answer but it has not yet been given.

Vidal joins the campaign of the head of government

It was decided. Although she always knew it intimately, this week María Eugenia Vidal made public her support for her friend Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, with whom she works and has had an almost family relationship for 27 years.

The decision earned her criticism from Mauricio Macri and Patricia Bullrich, however, the deputy will face this last week of campaign mounted to collaborate so that the head of government can win the inmate once morest the former Minister of Security.

The day before yesterday he traveled to Córdoba, where he had a raid of interviews and notes in the media plus a meeting with the PRO deputy Soher el Sukaria and a group of JxC.

He will also have to go to Mendoza, where he will also talk regarding Larreta’s qualities so that he is chosen, and on Wednesday he will be in Paraná, where he will appear with the head of Government. To that photo will be added Rogelio Frigerio, candidate for governor of Entre Ríos, and possibly the radical Maximiliano Pullaro, who will fight for the governorship of Santa Fe in September.

Before that, on Monday he will be with Macri, Larreta, Bullrich and Jorge Macri in a unity photo to support the Buenos Aires Minister of Government in the City before the radical Martín Lousteau.

However, Vidal made his decision personally, following having stated that during all these months he had not mentioned who he would vote for so as not to complicate the JxC unit.

The alleged “neutrality” to which she alluded in the last meeting with Bullrich, for which she was criticized, was going to occur if the pre-candidate took Cristian Ritondo as governor. It didn’t happen.
