Bogor City Government (Pemkot) won two awards at the same time at the 2024 Viral Digital Literacy Festival.

The 2024 VIRAL Digital Literacy Festival, which was initiated by the West Java Communication and Infomatics Service (Diskominfo), was held at the Arya Duta Hotel, Bandung City, Thursday (31/10).

Through TAKIS/Bogor City Saber Hoaks, the City Government won second place with Digital Literacy Content and Most Active Fact Check in the 2024 West Java Saber Hoaks Awards category.

Then the award was won in the 2024 West Java Public Relations Award City of the Year Social Media Category, the Bogor City Government won second place.

Responding to the achievement of this award, the Head of the Bogor City Diskominfo, Rahmat Hidayat, expressed his gratitude and pride for the awards given at the West Java Saber Hoaks 2024 and West Java Public Relations Award 2024 events.

According to him, the award was the result of the hard work of the Diskominfo team together with all partners and the community.

“This is joint work. All partners and the community continue to support our efforts in fighting the spread of false information and improving the quality of public information services in West Java,” added Rahmat, after receiving the award.

In the future, continued Rahmat, Diskominfo will continue to be committed to providing better, transparent and responsible information services.

“Thank you to the Governor and all levels of the West Java Provincial Government for the support provided, as well as to the community who have actively participated in maintaining a healthy information climate. Hopefully this award can encourage us to continue to innovate and contribute even better,” said Rahmat.

Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, said that the activities and awards given were a form of appreciation for the digital literacy event.

He hopes that, in the future, this activity can collaborate to bring digital literacy into everyday life.

These include preventing online gambling, online loans, healthy lifestyles, protecting the environment, processing waste, and so on.

“So, hopefully this will continue to be a trigger to be more creative and work again. So that we can provide enlightenment to society and the public. We believe collaboration is the key to digital literacy,” he said.

Still at the same time, the Head of West Java Province Diskominfo, Ika Mardiah, said that this activity was an effort to increase people’s digital literacy. Especially West Java by inviting all public relations and digital literacy activists, both in regional, Regency/City, to Village/Subdistrict and Subdistrict levels.

He explained that digital literacy has four pillars. First that skill or ability, secondly then ethics. Then culture and fourthly security.

What is dangerous, he continued, are online gambling offers and hoax news or information.

“This is very important, because now bad information, bad content is coming straight to our cellphones,” concluded Ika. (D-2)
