Changes at Boeing. The American aviation group announced on Wednesday that Kelly Ortberg will take over as CEO from former CEO Dave Calhoun as of August 8. “I am extremely honored and grateful to join this iconic group,” Mr. Ortberg said of his appointment.

Outgoing CEO Dave Cahloun was appointed general manager in early 2020 to recover from the 737 MAX crashes in 2018 and 2019 that killed 346 people. “I apologize for the sadness we have caused, and I want you to know that in their memory we are fully mobilized to continue working where necessary and focused on safety,” Dave Cahloun said at the time. He announced his retirement on March 25 as part of a reorganization of the group’s leadership.

Net loss: $1.44 billion

In a separate statement, the aircraft maker reported second-quarter sales that fell well short of analysts’ forecasts. The reason? Deliveries at its commercial aviation division were at half-mast and contracts at its defense arm were lost.

This is a huge disappointment for aircraft manufacturers, which is beyond the predictions of experts, who expected the loss to be no more than $1 billion. According to statistics, the transaction volume from April to June was 16.86 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 15%.
