Boeing Co. will delay deliveries from his 787 Dreamliner airplane following detecting faulty parts during production, a setback at a time when the planemaker works to meet growing demand for its long-range jet.
Shares fell to a 3,9% following the news broke, reversing an earlier rise. The action accumulated a rise of 9.6% this year until the close of the session on Monday.
The flaw might affect regarding 90 Dreamliners already manufactured that the company has not yet delivered, Boeing reported Tuesday. Boeing will inspect each plane for improperly sized fillers in the horizontal stabilizer, a small wing attached to the tail of the plane. A handful of 787s sitting on the final assembly line at Boeing’s North Charleston, South Carolina, facility will also have to be inspected for defects and, if necessary, repaired.
