Boeing is being investigated by the US aviation regulator

This was announced by the Federal Aviation Administration on Monday. The inspections concerned the electrical connections between the wings and fuselage of the 787 Dreamliner.

In addition, it will be investigated whether Boeing employees falsified documents with information about the inspections. A Boeing employee stated “irregularities”.

Boeing has been in trouble after a door panel detached from a 737 Max 9 plane during a flight earlier this year. The plane had to make an emergency landing with a gaping hole in the side of the plane. Investigations have revealed that bolts that were supposed to hold the panel in place were missing after the aircraft had been repaired.

Since then, there have been major changes in the company’s management. Production of Max aircraft has been curtailed, and deliveries of new aircraft have been halved while safety procedures and quality control are reviewed.

The FAA has given the company three months to present a plan for handling “systematic problems with quality control”.

The 787 program also came under scrutiny in a Senate hearing in which a whistleblower claimed he was being punished after raising concerns about the safety of the 787 Dreamliner, Boeing’s flagship model.
