Boeing: four 737 MAX-8 for Luxair, fifteen 737 MAX-9 for GBA

The Luxembourg airline luxury will strengthen its fleet by adding four single-aisle 737 MAX-8the aircraft manufacturer Boeing announced yesterday.

Luxair is first leasing two 737 MAX-8s in order to be able to rapidly increase its capacity as the summer season approaches. At the same time, it placed a direct order for the acquisition of two other single-aisle aircraft which will be delivered later. The four 737 MAX-8s will be added to Luxair’s fleet of 19 aircraft, including eight Boeing 737NGs.

Boeing also has the Hong Kong airline Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) has just placed an order for 15 aircraft 737 MAX-9. These single aisles will be operated on its regional network between Hong Kong and major cities in Asia and mainland China. GBA has also signed a commitment for five long-haul 787 Dreamliners to eventually launch an international network.

The young Hong Kong company currently operates a fleet of three 737-800 NGs from Hong Kong to four destinations (Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo and Seoul). It also plans to acquire a number of additional 737-800s to meet its expansion needs before the arrival of the 737 MAX-9s.
