Boeing: Another sudden death of whistleblower who told about production defects

He died suddenly a whistleblower who blamed a Boeing supplier that it ignored defects in the production of the 737 MAX aircraft. He is the second informant on the case to die suddenly.

Joshua Dean, a quality controller for Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems, died suddenly Tuesday at the age of 44 from a severe infection.

He had announced that he was fired in April 2023 by the company after raising questions about Spirit AeroSystems’ manufacturing plant in Wichita, Kansas.

Dean’s death was confirmed by his devastated family in a statement to The Seattle Times.

Dean’s mother wrote in a Facebook post last month that her son was “fighting for his life” after contracting pneumonia and suffering a stroke following an MRSA infection.

The Seattle Times, which broke the news, noted that Dean was “in good health and noted for his healthy lifestyle.” MRSA is usually a nosocomial infection with approximately 25% mortality in developed countries.

It is noted that, in early March, Boeing whistleblower John Barnett was found dead. South Carolina authorities reported the 62-year-old’s cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
