Because Steroids Scarred Bodies: Bodybuilder Shows Ulcers as a Deterrent – Most competitive athletes should be aware that taking steroids is not necessarily a healthy idea. One bodybuilder even had to stay at home for nine months because of the substances. The reason: lesions had broken out on his body, which disfigured his skin and at the same time caused excruciating pain. Now the online fitness trainer is warning other bodybuilders to stay away from the stuff.
Dave Hartrey is 24 and comes from Waterford, Ireland. After two particularly severe outbreaks of ulcers, he is desperately looking for doctors who can help him. His back is now full of so-called keloid scars, as are his chest and arms. Such scars manifest as significantly increased scar tissue, which may be pink, intensely red, skin tone, or generally darker than the rest of the body.
Dave Hartrey verbatim:
“I’ve always been a big believer in fitness and have exercised off and on since I was 15. When I turned 20, I started training with a bodybuilder. I enjoyed training with him so much that I decided to pursue bodybuilding as well.” But then the story took an unhealthy turn: “When you go to the gym, make progress, people accuse you of taking steroids, and since bodybuilding is a short career, I decided to just test them out.”
The bodybuilder warns: “It’s really important to mention that with steroids you’re taking a risk from the start, because when you take testosterone the body may not produce the same amount naturally followingwards, not to mention the other dangers . I got mine from a guy at my gym which I would advise once morest as it might mean anything!”
Besides the ulcers, Dave faced another problem:
Two severe breakouts of acne on the face. Added to this was another eruption of ulcers following he decided to stop taking steroids. As he explains in an article by LADbible: “I had my first breakout on my back in mid-2020, and that was when I reduced the amount I was taking. A lot of people have asked me why I didn’t quit following the first outbreak, but I was working towards a bodybuilding show that I had already put years of hard work into.”
So, in February 2021, more ulcers erupted in a fit. He explains that they had now captured his back and torso, arms and face, explaining: “Right regarding the same time I was invited to train with some top bodybuilders and it was a huge hit for me! However, at that point I realized that I had neglected every other part of my life and my back was covered in ulcers. Due to the pressure that everyday life put on me, they burst open and I was in a lot of pain.”
It was finally enough for him, he stopped taking the steroids
This resulted in said further thrust, which he himself describes as “the worst ever”. He was housebound for nine months. Now he is waiting for medical consultation appointments to have the scars treated with the laser or injections. He also wants to help other people keep their hands off steroids through appearances and statements. In addition to ulcers, the risks also include a reduced sperm count, infertility, shrinking testicles, hair loss, erectile dysfunction, unwanted breast growth, an increased risk of developing prostate cancer, as well as severe acne and stomach pain.
