Crazy phenomenon in USA
Böötler rescued from “circle of death”.
Two boaters were rescued from the so-called “circle of death” in the United States. It is not uncommon for such an event to end fatally. No wonder the phenomenon is feared in boating circles. But what does it mean?
The two men will probably never forget this boat trip. They were out on their boat in the waters of the US state of Massachusetts in early July when their leisurely excursion turned into a horror trip.
As the “New York Post» reported the two men lost control of the boat just offshore of Marshfield and were eventually thrown into the water. But that’s not all: The boat became independent and drove in circles at an insane speed – around the two men. They were trapped. With no life jackets, no way to get help.
The phenomenon is also known as the “circle of death”. There is a high risk of being hit by the boat and the propeller. And that can end badly, even with death.
Beaches closed due to boat amok
In this case, however, things went smoothly. A captain of a fishing boat sailing nearby saw one of the men swimming in the water. She then called for help. Meanwhile, the boat had detached itself from its circular course and was driving around on the sea without a leader.
Because Marshfield Police feared it might quickly change direction and theoretically speed towards the beaches as well, the sections were temporarily closed. After almost two hours, the danger was over and the boat was under control.
The case shows how dangerous it can be on the water. “This is a stark reminder of how quickly incidents on the water can go unnoticed,” the Marshfield Police Commissioner said in a statement. “We strongly advise wearing life jackets and activating the ship’s safety switch. Such incidents can happen to even the most experienced seafarers». (ced)
