**Interview with Komjen Eddy Hartono, Head of BNPT**
*Editor*: Welcome, Komjen Eddy Hartono. Thank you for joining us today. We recently read about the important role of generative models in AI, particularly in distinguishing between generative and discriminative models. Can you share your thoughts on how an understanding of these models might relate to maintaining ideological integrity?
*Komjen Eddy Hartono*: Thank you for having me. Understanding generative and discriminative models is quite significant in our digital landscape. Just as generative models create new data based on learned patterns, ideologies also evolve and can be influenced by their environment. It’s crucial for organizations like ours to ensure that the ideologies we promote are not eroded by external narratives that may mislead or misinform the public.
*Editor*: That’s an interesting perspective. In the context of generative AI, how do you see its potential used for good versus potential misuse, particularly in relation to ideology?
*Komjen Eddy Hartono*: Generative AI has incredible potential for educational purposes, enhancing creativity, and producing positive content. However, there is always a risk of it being used maliciously to spread misinformation or manipulate ideological beliefs. This duality emphasizes the importance of vigilance and proactive measures to ensure that the integrity of ideas we uphold is not compromised.
*Editor*: With your role at BNPT, what steps are being taken to combat the negative impacts of AI on ideology and ensure that fundamental beliefs are safeguarded?
*Komjen Eddy Hartono*: We are actively engaging in dialogue, both within the government and with the community, to raise awareness about the influence of AI. We conduct workshops and develop materials that help individuals discern credible information from misinformation. Additionally, collaboration with tech companies is essential to create guidelines for the ethical use of AI technologies.
*Editor*: Thank you, Komjen Eddy. Your insights underline the importance of understanding both technological advancements like generative AI and the need to protect our ideological foundations in this digital age.
*Komjen Eddy Hartono*: Thank you for the conversation. It’s vital that we stay informed and proactive as we navigate these complex challenges.
