The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has provided assistance to eight provinces that have declared forest and land fire alert status.
“To prepare for the forest and land fires emergency itself since April, we have provided close assistance and provided support for land task force infrastructure such as pumps and other land extinguishing equipment,” said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data and Information Center Abdul Muhari when contacted, Sunday (13/ 10).
Abdul stated that his party also operates helicopters water bombing and patrol helicopters since April. Especially in several priority provinces where conditions or reports indicate that the extent or frequency of forest and land fire incidents is quite high.
However, Abdul emphasized that now the dry season has begun to pass so BNPB is now preparing for the rainy season.
“Actually, in the October period, the dry season will have finished. So BNPB’s focus is now starting to shift from forest and land fires. Although we are not eliminating our preparedness, we must have shifted to preparing all the supporting infrastructure for areas facing the rainy season,” he explained. .(D-2)
