BNN Thwarts Distribution of 15 Kg of Crystal Meth and 10 Thousand Ecstasy Pills

THE National Narcotics Agency (BNN) uncovered a case of narcotics trafficking from Malaysia that was smuggled into Indonesia through the Aceh region to be distributed to the North and South Sumatra regions. As a result, 15 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 10,345 ecstasy pills were confiscated.

“We managed to secure evidence of 15,001.6 grams or approximately 15 kg of crystal methamphetamine and other evidence of 10,345 ecstasy pills,” said BNN Chief Commissioner General Martinus Hukom, Friday (20/9).

Martinus explained that the disclosure of drug trafficking began with information from the public. On Thursday (22/8), the BNN team managed to secure a man with the initials AL when he was passing by using a vehicle on Jalan Raya Medan Banda Aceh, Pangkalan Brandan, Langkat, North Sumatra.

“The suspect AL was caught carrying 15,001.6 grams or 15 kg of crystal methamphetamine packed into 15 packets of Chinese tea and stored in a sack labeled SP26 fertilizer after being hidden in a bag that the perpetrator brought using his vehicle,” he said.

Based on AL’s statement, he obtained the crystal methamphetamine from someone with the initials LAH, which he picked up in an alley on the side of Jalan Prof Majid Ibrahim, Langsa City, Aceh.

On the same day, the BNN team then carried out a pursuit and succeeded in securing LAH at his house in the Langsa City area, Aceh.

“From the search carried out by LAH, the BNN team found two packages of Chinese tea containing 10,345 ecstasy pills hidden in a washing machine,” he said.

The BNN team again conducted an examination of LAH. It is known that the ecstasy was ordered by someone with the initials FH. Then, the BNN team managed to secure FH in a shophouse located in Kota Aceh District.

“The suspect FH admitted that the ecstasy narcotics in LAH’s house were his, which he had entrusted to LAH for safekeeping,” he said.

Due to the disclosure of this narcotics crime case, the BNN team managed to secure three suspects with the initials AL, LAH, and FH with evidence of 15 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 10,345 ecstasy pills.

Thus, BNN also succeeded in saving 40,348 of the nation’s children from the potential for drug abuse.

For their actions, the three perpetrators were charged with Article 114 (2) Jo Article 112 (2) Jo Article 132 (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a maximum penalty of the death penalty or life imprisonment. (J-2)
