The expected differences of the new iteration of the B58 are a redesigned intake manifold, a more efficient turbine and a different cooling system. For M Performance models, the 3.0-liter “six” will also be reconfigured – even in the basic configuration, the power will approach the 400 hp mark.
Insiders also reported on the power units of the new “five” BMW in the back of the G60. According to unofficial data, the lineup will consist of all-electric and hybrid versions, with variations of the fuel-powered 5-Series and their “battery” counterparts i5 will be equally divided.
The BMW i5 electric sedan should be partially unified with the i4 and iX, so that buyers can count on a 100 kilowatt-hour traction battery. But the M550i will likely lose the 4.4-liter V8 and switch to an electrified version of the B58 from M Performance.
