BMW presents the world premiere of its BMW Concept Touring Coupé at the opening of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023.
The closed two-seater, which was developed for a one-time production run, continues the tradition of legendary BMW classics: a timeless symbol of freedom on four wheels and the joy of traveling together.
BMW Design has reinvented the traditional body shape of an elegant sports car, giving the vehicle a shooting brake concept. Inside, precision-crafted leather surfaces from Italian manufacturer Poltrona Frau create a luxurious ambiance.
The compartment behind the seats offers ample space to store luggage for spontaneous trips; the luggage itself was also exclusively made to measure in the Schedoni leather workshop in Modena.
This unique model pays homage to the timeless fascination of the automobile. The world premiere of the BMW Concept Touring Coupé at the 2023 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este places the vehicle in a historical context.
Surrounded by classic engines from automotive history that have brought joy to owners and observers for decades, this one-of-a-kind car will be unveiled in Cernobbio, Italy, as a tribute to the timeless fascination of the automobile.
“The BMW Concept Touring Coupé celebrates pure original driving pleasure,” says Domagoj Dukec, BMW Design Director. “A vehicle as emotional as this shows that a passion for all things driving pleasure has been essential throughout the centuries and will be in the future.”
The one-of-a-kind, handcrafted BMW Concept Touring Coupé unites a body concept steeped in tradition with the technology of a modern purist sports car. Its proportions and its name are reminiscent of the BMW 328 Touring Coupé that won the Mille Miglia endurance race back in 1940.
The functionality of the firing brake concept is a nod to the BMW 02 Series model variants of the early 1970s, which featured “Touring” in their name to distinguish them from sedans.
The styling of the lettering on the rear and inside of this unique vehicle was inspired by the model lettering of this historic predecessor.
The BMW Concept Touring Coupé is powered by the brand’s signature six-cylinder inline engine, with performance and refinement features that confirm its status as a symbol of pure and unadulterated driving pleasure.
Exterior Design: Striking Proportions, Signature Details
The design highlight of the BMW Concept Touring Coupé is its sculpted rear end. Created from the flowing contours of the roof, which blend seamlessly with the rear side panels, the shape accentuates the car’s athletic shoulders, while the flat rear window and clearly defined body surfaces emphasize the car’s strong stance. vehicle.
Viewed from the side, the typical BMW interpretation of the shooting brake proportions is clearly recognizable. The long bonnet, the aerodynamic contours of the roof and the powerful rear section form a distinctive two-box design, while the elongated side window graphic with the Hofmeister kink and the flared rear wheel arches underline its sporty elegance.
The Sparkling Lario exterior paint was created especially for the BMW Concept Touring Coupé. Inlaid with flakes of blue glass, its greyish-brown hues create a unique impression of depth.
The effect is completed by silver and bronze accents and the specially designed BMW kidney grille with longitudinal bars.
Exclusive light-alloy wheels, measuring 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear, provide a logical continuation of these color accents in the 20-spoke radial design.
The intricate implementation and the discreet golden surfaces underline the elegant sporty character of the vehicle.
Interior design: Craftsmanship at the highest level
The interior environment of the BMW Concept Touring Coupé is defined by the brand’s customary driver orientation in the cabin, with the utmost attention paid to the choice of materials, color scheme and workmanship.
The exclusive two-tone option from the Italian leather workshop Poltrona Frau divides the interior horizontally into two distinct color segments: in the upper section, a dark brown shade aids concentration while driving; at the bottom, a light saddle brown brings comfort and warmth to the interior.
The precise perforations, as well as the braided leather straps for the seat steering wheels and the sliding bar, underline the handcrafted character of the interior, which combines traditional craftsmanship at the highest level with modern design principles.
High-quality workmanship and attention to detail also characterize the luggage designed exclusively for the BMW Concept Touring Coupé by the Schedoni leather workshop in Modena.
The tailor-made set consists of two large and one small weekender bag, as well as a garment bag, all perfectly coordinated with the vehicle.
