BMW “not interested” in entering Formula 1 by 2026

BMW may well not imitate Audi and Porsche, and may not be among the manufacturers interested in entering F1 by the end of the decade.

According to several sources inside the paddock, including Helmut Marko and Stefano Domenicali, many brands are eyeing the championship, attracted by the new engine regulations and the fallout offered by F1.

But Andreas Roos, at the head of BMW Motorsport, indicated that the Bavarian propeller preferred to focus on its new program in LMDh (photo above) and does not regret not having an eye on Formula 1.

“We are not interested at the moment, and it is not a problem for us if we do not follow Audi or Porsche” says Roos, quoted by Motorsport-Total.

“We have to be realistic, continues Roos. You have a very high investment if you are in Formula 1 and you have to be very successful for a very long time to get a return. We are therefore satisfied with the range of projects we currently have in motorsport. »

“We are already fully committed to the transition to electrification. The LMDh adapts perfectly to it and well before 2026, when Formula 1 will go in this direction. From that point of view, it’s a good time for us to do LMDh now” he concludes.
