BMW Motorrad to introduce ‘large scooter’ model in Korea next year

BMW Motorrad held the ‘BMW Motorrad Days 2011’ event for BMW motorcycle owners and their families at Phoenix Park in Bokwang, Gangwon-do, for two days from the 11th to the 12th.

BMW Motorrad did not achieve great results following entering the Korean market. This is because the motorcycle culture that has been discharged from the military has not been established in Korea, and the road conditions for enjoying motorcycles are not good. In addition, the social perception that motorcycles are dangerous has also prevented the development of the market.

However, BMW Motorrad Director Jo Seong-yeon focused on changing social perception through steady marketing activities regardless of these adverse conditions. Safety training was conducted by inviting customers 3 to 4 times a year, and each dealership also participated in the training and conducted the training at least twice a month, drawing positive responses from customers.

As a result of these efforts, a total of 313 units were sold in the first half of 2010 alone, showing an astonishing result, growing by over 30% compared to the previous year. Achieved a record-breaking record of

Director Jo Seong-yeon said, “Last year, we steadily launched new models, including the S1000RR, in Korea. We are planning to introduce a scooter in Korea. The large scooter to be launched is 650cc and has dynamic performance in addition to everyday use, so we expect to get a good response.”

Meanwhile, BMW Motorrad plans to continue to provide time with customers through various tour activities this year. A Motorrad official said that they are planning a Jeju Island tour in the middle of this year following the GS Challenge Tour and the Trans-Canada Tour.
