BMW M4 CSL: it arrives on May 20

For its 50th anniversary, the sports division of BMW is preparing to relaunch a more radical M4, baptized CSL, for “Coupé Sport Lightweight” (lightweight). The BMW M4 CSL will be officially presented on May 20 as part of the Villa d’Este elegance competition, and will add a touch of sportiness to the catalog of the Bavarian brand.

If the first photos unveiled by BMW remain quite mysterious, there is still a new front splitter and two vertical vents. According to the name of the car, the hunt for weight might suggest that the M4 CSL gives pride of place to carbon fiber for its various body elements.

At the rear, we guess a new spoiler, and two optical units, which like the previous BMW M4 GTS should be equipped with OLED technology.

On the engine side, the M4 CSL should keep the 510 horsepower 3.0 biturbo six-cylinder from the current BMW M4. However, some rumors announce that its power should be pushed up to 550 horsepower. Again, according to the principle of this “light” mode, we imagine that the engineers have tracked down the slightest superfluous kilo for a total weight gain which should flirt with 100 kg compared to the M4 Coupé.
