A German artist has transformed the BMW iX1 electric crossover into a new art car. In June 2022, the premiere of the new generation of the BMW X1 compact crossover took place, which for the first time in history received an electric version of the BMW iX1. It was this modification that the company decided to use as a new art car, created in honor of a long-term partnership with the Städel Museum, one of the most famous and oldest museum funds in Germany. The author of the project was a contemporary German artist Mark Brandenburg, who presented his view of the car.

Together with Deputy Director for Contemporary Art at the Staedel Museum Svenja Grosser Mark Brandenburg explainedthat he embodied in metal his vision of the aspects of time, space and speed, which formed the basis of the design for an unusual art car.

“The design of the BMW iX1 by Mark Brandenburg is the perfect start for a new long-term collaboration that will lead to even more inspirational Städel Invites,” said Ilka Horstmeier, Member of the Management Board of BMW AG.

The BMW iX1 art car pays homage to the Hirnsturm II exhibition from October 28, 2021 to January 30, 2022, when around 130 drawings and video works by Mark Brandenburg were displayed at the Städel Museum.
