BMW fatally hits Greet in front of her husband’s eyes as they walked their dog: ‘He’s completely shocked’

“She was a proud woman. A mother of two children and a happy wife. The shock is great this Saturday in Muizen (Mechelen) following the accident which occurred this morning on the Chaussée de Louvain. As a reminder, a BMW brand car hit two pedestrians – a woman and a man – who were walking their dog on the sidewalk. The 52-year-old woman did not survive while the injured man was taken to hospital. The dog was also killed in the accident. The driver of the car, a 70-year-old, was slightly injured and taken to hospital.

As we learn from Het Laatste Nieuws and the Nieuwsblad, Geert S. is therefore the victim of this tragedy. She probably died instantly, leaving her family in mourning. “We don’t know much yet. The police do not have a lot of information at the moment, ”she explains to our Flemish colleagues.

What is certain is that the 50-year-old died under the helpless eyes of her husband Benny. “He is now out of the hospital but he is completely shocked. Greet was a very proud woman, an avid fan of KV Mechelen. She was happy to be married to Benny. She was also the mother of two children from a previous relationship, a daughter and a son who are now adults. »

A faintness ?

The accident occurred near the railway bridge, just before the entrance to the Planckendael animal park. According to initial findings, the driver felt unwell and left the road before hitting the facade of a house. On its way, it mowed down the victims who were walking their dog on the side. He had not been drinking and was not driving under the influence of narcotics. However, his driving license was withdrawn for 15 days, which is standard procedure.
