Théo (assumed name), 39, from Orp-Jauche, decides to get rid of his BMW car in the hope of collecting the insurance premium. He talks regarding it to Laurent C., one of his friends who lives in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, who passes on the message.

And the scam attempt is launched. Marguerite, Tanguy’s wife, is responsible for driving the BMW to a car park in Wavre where a commission agent will pick it up to hand it over to a mechanic in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, who will speak with a colleague from Buggenhout who will take delivery of the car. BMW. He will pay cash for it and sell it at a solid profit.

The (alleged) theft of the car will take place on February 19, 2019. The file will not be completed until October 13, 2020 with, finally, the identification of the protagonists and the second hands.

This file was examined at the correctional hearing in Walloon Brabant on 21 June. It will have taken time for the investigators because, we can guess, the fellows will not have directly entered the confessional path and they varied over the hearings.

Tanguy’s wife first wanted people to believe that she didn’t know that the car she was driving to Wavre was going to be stolen. For his part, Axel L., a 44-year-old Schaerbeekois, well known to the courts, agreed to lend his name for the registration of the car which brought Abdelhakim L., the intermediary responsible for taking delivery, to Wavre.

As for the mechanic from Buggenhout (East Flanders), he was not particularly taken aback to buy, on the night of July 12, 2019 in Woluwe, a car without license plates for which he paid €28,000 in cash before ask the buyer for €39,000. The latter obtained a discount, but the car ended up being seized and was therefore immobilized.

The court was more lenient: 180 hours of work for Tanguy, 80 hours for his wife, 100 hours for the Luxembourger. As for Aldelhekim L., he is punished for his absence at the hearing by one year in prison with a fine of €2,000.
