BMW 7 and Audi in Happy House?… Up to 2.6 million won in rental income per month

◀ anchor ▶

In the underground parking lot of a public rental housing in Gyeonggi-do, a scene of expensive foreign cars costing up to 100 million won was caught.

It’s proof that there are many people who lied regarding their qualifications and moved in.

There have been cases in which tenants secretly rented to earn rental income, or even sold them to someone else.

Correspondent Kim Sang-hoon reported.

Imported cars such as Audi, BMW 7 Series and Ford Mustang worth more than 100 million won are parked all over the underground parking lot.

With 47 foreign vehicles registered, this apartment is a happy house in Gyeonggi-do.

This is a public rental housing provided by Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation at 60~80% of the market price for college students and beginners with low income.

Owners of cars more expensive than 34.96 million won cannot move in, but there are over 10 cars more expensive than this in this apartment alone.

“Even though the value of the vehicle far exceeds the standard of 34.96 million won for youth in the public happy housing, they moved into the public rental housing by fraudulent means.”

About a dozen people deceived their qualifications with the so-called ‘split car ownership’ trick, in which only 1-2% of the shares in the car were held in their own name, and the rest was returned in the name of their parents or other people. //

In fact, even those in their 20s, who own billions of BMW 7 Series units, own only 1% of the vehicle.

A case of rental business as a public rental apartment was also discovered.

A resident of a public rental apartment in Pangyo New Town, Seongnam signed a sub-lease contract with a deposit of 250 million won and monthly rent of 2.65 million won.

One tenant even negotiated a rental property with a real estate agent and sold it illegally.

“The owner is also in LH. Now, he (the occupant) will give you a receipt for the LH deposit on the due date when you set a date.”

Although it is illegal to resell or sublease public rental housing, some real estate agents have written false contracts and collected fees.

Gyeonggi Province decided to investigate 151 people, including trickster tenants, illegal renters and sellers, and real estate agents who helped them, and also decided to conduct an investigation in the third new city.
