“BMW 5 Series Introduces Gaming on the Go with AirConsole Partnership”

Available in all-electric i5 eDrive40 and i5 M60 versions, the new BMW 5 Series becomes the first BMW car to benefit from the partnership between the German engine manufacturer and the AirConsole company. This unique combination allows driver and passengers alike to play video games on the sedan’s BMW Curved Display. BMW’s infotainment system is thus closer to the tenor Tesla, which offers to play its Steam catalog in the Model S.

Unsurprisingly, this feature aims to provide integrated entertainment while charging the 81.2 kWh batteries of the electric versions. Despite the fast charge of up to 205 kW, it takes regarding thirty minutes to go from 10 to 80% capacity on a terminal. During this time, BMW offers travelers the opportunity to have fun on a few video games available on the AirConsole platform.

By scanning a QR Code on the vehicle’s screen, passengers and driver can transform their smartphone into a gamepad to play alone, in cooperation or once morest some fifteen titles such as Overcooked, Go Go Kart Go or great goal. BMW announces that the catalog will be expanded. Of course, it is not a question of resuming one’s part of Zelda TOTK or of Fortnite, but to have fun with the family to pass the time. We are thinking in particular of children who will be able to have fun during a long trip without leaving the car.

Other updated BMWs

BMW specifies that this functionality is not limited to the latest Series 5. It will gradually be extended to other models of the manufacturer, such as the BMW X5, X6, X7 and XM SUVs, as well as to the Series 7 and i4 sedans.

To support this partnership combining gaming and automotive, BMW is presenting an exclusive version of its 5 Series, equipped with unique styling reflecting “immersive gaming experience” in an 8-bit style. THE covering purple will not necessarily be to everyone’s taste, but the Bavarian company should find its clientele.
