From all over Europe, 151 projects were submitted in three categories for the “European Administration Prize 2023-24”.
Vienna (OTS) – The international jury of the European Administration Prize nominated the public BMBWF research infrastructure database among the best and most innovative projects in Europe.
The award goes to the Public Research Infrastructure Database, which is an information platform that enables access to and use of infrastructure capacities in Austria. After winning the Austrian Administration Prize 2021, the public database will be recognized as a good practice at the European level for its innovation performance. The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research thus receives the European Good Practice Certificate in the Innovation in Public Administration category.
“We are very pleased regarding this European award for my department’s research infrastructure database. The public database is a successful model in Austria and Europe. It creates transparency and supports collaboration in research, technology and innovation. I warmly congratulate section head Barbara Weitgruber and project manager Thorsten D. Barth,” said Federal Minister Martin Polaschek.
Austria is one of only a few countries in the world to have a public research infrastructure database that makes the variety of research infrastructures and their opportunities for cooperation and use in science, research and business transparent and publicly visible. The database can be used to find and offer research infrastructures for new cooperation projects.
In addition to creating access to and use of research infrastructure capacities, strategic decision-making processes, infrastructure tenders and a transparent and visible infrastructure portfolio of the Austrian research area are also supported. The database serves the target groups of researchers, management of research infrastructure, funding institutions, politics and administration.
The public database records over 300,000 visits from users from over 170 countries worldwide. Over 100 R&D institutions are already taking part voluntarily with over 2,300 cooperative infrastructures in Austria. The database is “Open for Collaboration” and can be freely used by all departments and R&D areas.
The European Administration Prize 2023-24 is awarded by the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA). The European Administrative Prize 2023-24 is an innovation prize and competition open to all public organizations in Europe. The award recognizes outstanding performance and innovation in public administration in Europe.
