BLUETTI, a global leader in clean energy storage solutions, entered into a strategic partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) at the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12) in Cairo, held November 4-8 . The aim of this strategic collaboration is to accelerate the deployment of clean energy and sustainable development in Africa.
WUF12, under the theme “It All Starts at Home: Local actions for sustainable cities and communities”, highlights urgent local actions needed to address issues such as affordable housing, Addressing climate change, rising costs of living and the lack of basic services. This theme is closely related to BLUETTI’s mission to create a better world through sustainable energy. Focusing on local action is particularly important in Africa, where millions of people still lack reliable electricity. Limited access to electricity limits daily life, hinders educational and employment opportunities, and perpetuates poverty across the continent.
In response to these challenges, BLUETTI and UN-Habitat signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Technology Transfer during the Forum to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy technologies in Africa. Key initiatives under this MoU include training electricians and imparting clean energy knowledge through the BLUETTI Lighting An African Family (LAAF) program. BLUETTI and UN-Habitat want to enable African communities to use sustainable energy and strengthen local energy resilience by providing skills and knowledge.
“This collaboration with UN-Habitat is an important milestone in our mission to advance sustainable development across Africa,” said Liting Huang, LAAF Program Manager. “Since 2021, our LAAF program has provided solar power to over 15,000 off-grid families. This time we want “We are excited to expand these efforts to support even more communities through renewable energy and education.”
Through this partnership, BLUETTI strives to create transformative change in Africa by empowering local communities with sustainable energy solutions and vital knowledge to pave the way for a better, more resilient future.
Information about BLUETTI As a clean energy technology pioneer, BLUETTI is committed to a sustainable future by offering affordable green energy storage solutions for indoor and outdoor use. **Interview with Eco-Energy Expert Dr. Sarah Ahmed on BLUETTI’s Partnership with UN-Habitat**
**Interviewer:** Welcome, Dr. Ahmed! Thank you for joining us today to discuss BLUETTI’s recent collaboration with UN-Habitat. Can you share your initial thoughts on this partnership?
**Dr. Ahmed:** Thank you for having me! I’m really excited about this partnership. BLUETTI’s commitment to clean energy solutions, paired with UN-Habitat’s focus on sustainable urban development, is a powerful combination. This collaboration is especially crucial given the pressing energy access issues in Africa.
**Interviewer:** Absolutely. The partnership aims to enhance sustainable development in Africa. How essential is access to clean energy in achieving these goals?
**Dr. Ahmed:** It’s absolutely vital. Access to clean energy is fundamental not just for improving living standards but also for fostering economic growth and empowering communities. Without reliable electricity, education and job opportunities diminish, perpetuating a cycle of poverty. This initiative addresses those barriers by promoting renewable energy solutions directly where they’re needed most.
**Interviewer:** At the World Urban Forum, there was a theme of “Local actions for sustainable cities and communities.” Why do you think local action is particularly important in this context?
**Dr. Ahmed:** Local actions are critical because they tailor solutions to the specific needs of communities. In Africa, many regions face unique challenges, such as high urbanization rates coupled with inadequate infrastructure. By focusing on local solutions, this partnership can directly implement the technologies and practices that will work best in those environments.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned technology transfer in your previous response. Could you elaborate on why this aspect of the partnership is so significant?
**Dr. Ahmed:** Certainly! Technology transfer is about sharing not just the technology itself, but also the knowledge and practices necessary to implement it effectively. This is essential for building local capacity. By ensuring communities have the skills and resources to maintain and operate clean energy technologies, we empower them to take control of their energy futures.
**Interviewer:** What outcomes do you hope to see from this partnership in the next few years?
**Dr. Ahmed:** I hope to see a significant increase in the deployment of renewable energy technologies across Africa, as well as improved access to affordable electricity for underserved communities. Additionally, I would love to see improvements in education and job creation as a direct result of reliable energy access. Ultimately, this partnership could serve as a scalable model for other regions facing similar challenges.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Dr. Ahmed, for sharing your insights! It’s inspiring to see organizations like BLUETTI and UN-Habitat collaborating for a sustainable future.
**Dr. Ahmed:** Thank you! I’m hopeful for the impact this partnership can achieve in fostering lasting change in Africa.
