While the exact algorithm details are proprietary, I can share that it takes into account factors like post frequency, engagement levels (likes, reposts, replies), and the overall buzz surrounding a particular topic within a set timeframe.



We also prioritize factors like the diversity of voices contributing to the conversation to ensure a broad ranging and representative view of trending topics.

**Alex Reed:** Absolutely!



Bluesky is built on the principle of user control. Users can personalize their experience by muting specific words or phrases they don’t wish to see, including from trending topics.



This ensures a safe and tailored newsfeed, allowing users to focus on the content that is relevant and interesting to them.

**Alex Reed:** We launched with english-language trending topics, but we have plans to expand to other languages as we grow and develop. Our goal is to make Bluesky accessible and engaging for a global community.

**Alex Reed:** Yes!



We prioritize user choice.
