Blue-White wins first winter test and has Brazilians in sight

FC Blau-Weiß Linz started the new year with a clear friendly win: Conor Noß, Marcel Schantl, Marco Krainz, Julian Gölles, Paul Mensah and Alexander Briedl scored for the coach’s team in the 6-1 win against regional league team Wallern Gerald Scheiblehner.

“We can be very satisfied with today’s test. Despite intensive training sessions in the last few days, we have set a good pace and also scored some nice goals. We certainly could have scored one or two more goals, especially in the first half of the game,” said BW coach Scheiblehner.

Almost even more pleasing: Lukas Tursch (after a torn cruciate ligament) made his comeback against the third division team. Striker Ronivaldo was rested and will only get his first minutes in the training camp after he tore his ligaments. Tursch in particular, who suffered a serious knee injury last April, can almost be seen as a new signing for Blue and White.

Will the next Brazilian come to Linz?

A real addition could come soon: The Linzers are about to transfer a kicker who will duel with Simon Pirkl for the place on the left side. According to OÖN information, a hot candidate: Joao Luiz from second division team Bregenz. The 24-year-old Brazilian, who comes from the Cruzeiro youth team, came to Wacker Innsbruck in Austria from the Portuguese club Alverca in 2020. He joined Amstetten in 2023 and has been at Bregenz since last summer. He scored three times in 48 second division games and also prepared five goals.
