A shocking scene unfolded in Santorini, as bystanders captured footage of the Blue Star 1 ship battling strong winds as it attempted to dock at the island’s port.
Blue Star 1, which operates a route from Piraeus to the Cyclades Islands, faced significant delays due to the difficult weather conditions prevailing in the Southeast Aegean. The ship, which was originally scheduled to leave Piraeus at 7am, did not set sail until midday, bound for Paros, Naxos and finally Santorini, where it arrived just before 9pm.
Video captured by passers-by highlights the persistent efforts of the crew, who were traveling over the national holiday weekend. Despite gale-force winds, which made the mooring process especially difficult, the captain and crew finally succeeded after several attempts, proving their skill and determination under pressure.
