Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau has died

The hockey world is in mourning. Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau has passed away, the NHL franchise announced.

Nicknamed ‘Johnny Hockey’, Gaudreau began his NHL career with the Calgary Flames. He quickly became the star of his team. After an incredible season in 2021/22 with 115 points in 82 games, the 31-year-old American signed a 7-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Gaudreau recently participated in the World Championship in the Czech Republic with the United States. He scored 11 points in 8 games.

According to reports on X/Twitter, Johnny and his brother Matthew, who also died, were hit by a car in New Jersey while they were riding their bikes.
