The Lucerne Blue Balls Festival will not take place in 2022. The organizer justified the cancellation in a message on Friday by saying that festival director Urs Leierer was seriously ill.
According to the communiqué of the Luzerner Blues Session association, which carries the Blue Balls, Leierer is not able to continue to oversee the 2022 festival on medical prescription. The association intends to hold a new festival with a new structure and a new concept in 2023.
The Blue Balls Festival 2022 should have taken place from July 22nd to 30th. Concerts by James Blunt (48), Robert Cray (68), Emeli Sandé (35) or Söhne Mannheims were planned at the KKL Luzern. The Blue Balls had already been canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the corona pandemic. (SDA)
