A dead man and a seriously injured man were found in an apartment building in Wettingen.
Shortly following 11.15 a.m. on Sunday, the Aargau canton police received a report that two people were injured in an apartment building in the Lindenhof district in Wettingen AG. The deployed police forces found a dead man and a seriously injured man on site, according to a statement on Monday.
The deceased man is a 69-year-old Chinese from the region. The seriously injured 63-year-old Vietnamese, who lives in Wettingen AG, was immediately taken to the hospital.
The exact circumstances are still unclear. Initial findings, however, allow the conclusion that a homicide has occurred. Investigations have started.
A neighbor observed the police operation and knows that the Chinese man was there more often. She saw the police carrying the Vietnamese man out of the apartment in a sack. “At first I thought he must be dead too,” says the resident Blick. “Below they covered his whole body with a heat foil – including his face,” she describes the scenario. She also saw the casualty from time to time. “An Asian man had been in the Vietnamese’s apartment for a week,” says the neighbor. But she never spoke to him. What the victim and the suspect had to do with each other remains unclear at this time.
“I thought he was nice”
For local residents, the situation is incomprehensible. Nothing like this has ever happened. Because the Lindenhof district is a quiet, family-friendly area. “It’s funny that something like this is happening here. I’ve lived here for 16 years. You don’t experience something like that every day, »says a resident to Blick. The suspect was a rather reserved person, reveals another resident. And: “I greeted my neighbors from time to time and found him to be nice.”
The public prosecutor’s office has opened criminal proceedings once morest the seriously injured man. It is the presumption of innocence. (noo/nl)
