Eggs are foods rich in proteins that provide the body with energy, which many prefer to eat, especially at breakfast, as well as adding them to many foods, but sometimes there are red dots in the yolk, which may annoy housewives.

Here we review in the next report, is it safe to eat these eggs?.. This is what we explain to you, according to what was stated on the “healthline” and “ichicken” sites.

What is a blood stain.. and what are its causes?

It is a red or brown spot the size of a pinhead located on the yolk of an egg. It occurs due to the rupture and bursting of small blood vessels during the formation of the egg, and thus blood penetrated the blood channels inside the egg and settled and accumulated in the yolk.

And a spot of blood does not indicate fertilization of the egg, it is just a small spot of blood indicating a very fresh egg.

Poor feeding of poultry and exposure to constant stress, and a deficiency of vitamins A and D, can increase the chances of red dots in the yolk.

In addition, older hens at the end of the laying cycle tend to lay more eggs that have blood spots, which is common.

How do poultry farmers spot these spots?

Farmers do their best to ensure that eggs with bloodstains are not sold to consumers, so the eggs go through a process called “candling,” a method that uses a bright light source to detect defects within the egg.

During this process, the egg is discarded if defects are discovered, however some bloodstains found in the yolk slip through the waxing process unnoticed.

Additionally, bloodstains in brown eggs are difficult to detect with the candling process, because the shell is darker in color, and as a result brown eggs with bloodstains are likely to pass through the candling process undetected.

Is it possible to eat eggs that contain points of blood?

According to the United States Department of Agriculture and the Egg Safety Council, eggs that have a blood stain are completely safe for consumption and pose no harm to human health as long as they are cooked properly. If you are bothered by this stain, simply remove it using the tip of a knife.
