Blood donation campaign with the OÖN in Linz

A blood unit is needed every 90 seconds in Austria to save the lives of seriously ill or injured people. That’s almost 1000 canned goods a day.

To help meet this huge need, the OÖN, together with the Red Cross, organized a fundraising campaign in the seminar room of the OÖN Forum in the Linz Promenade Galleries: Today and tomorrow, all healthy people over the age of 18 can donate blood without prior registration donate. It is sufficient to take an official photo ID and – if you have one – the blood donation card with you. It is open from 9.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 12.30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

After about eight weeks, the participants receive a laboratory result. The blood donation is thus also a small health check.

A donation is possible every eight weeks, 465 milliliters of blood are taken per collection. In the three to four hours before, donors should eat at least a small meal and drink enough fluids. After the donation, physical exertion should be avoided.
