St. Louis Indie Rockers Blond Guru Embrace Vintage Sounds for a Modern Scene [[1]Blond Guru, a band parting shot from various listening, sound like they’re gunning for intrinsic authenticity. The St. Louis five-piece somehow feels both retro and thoroughly modern,
mixing nostalgic influences with a fresh soundscape. The band, comprised of brothers Noah and Hal Gregory on vocals and keys, respectively, along with guitarist Josh Hezel, bassist Cole Conner and drummer Sean Buchert, marks the infrequent band that actually lives up to the hype.

an apt title considering how much fun the band sounds like they’re having.
“We’ve gotten fairly good at finding a tone for a project and being able to build everything around that," says Noah,
explaining the band’s process. "We were definitely going for a Midwest emo-inspired sound for this album,” says Noah .
“The Purpose Is To Entertain skews closer to that early 2000s New York riff-rock, that indie-rock revival," Noah admits.
"We know our sound
is stripped-back. Just go for the riff."
That’s a sound that the band discovered through a lot of musical experimentation, a lot of shared experiences playing together.
