In an article published just now on the official website, Blizzard shares more information about the Tournament and Leaderboards, which will arrive next week on Diablo IV during Patch 1.3.3. Find all the details below.

Trials call you, nomad. Fight for your place on the leaderboards when they become available on 5 mars. Every week you can participate in a new tournament : a fixed, non-linear dungeon that will allow you to fight to obtain the best score. Players will fight to dominate the competition, win the coveted seals and find a place in the rankings. Will you be up to the challenge?

The next mid-season update, where this new dungeon will appear, will also bring significant changes to class balancing and updates to the Seneschal Companion. We will therefore closely monitor your feedback to make adjustments for the tournament. To learn more about the upcoming changes, read the Diablo IV patch notes.

Prove your worth in the tournament

This thrilling challenge is available to all classes on the Seasonal Realm, in Normal or Extreme difficulty. Once you have gained access to world level IV, travel to the southwest port in Gea Kul. At the end of the longest platform is the fearsome Horn of Trials. Activate it to enter the tournament. Even if the tournament is accessible as soon as you reach world level IV, the level of the monsters will be higher than 100. Characters who have reached level 100 will therefore have a greater chance of triumphing over this massacre.

The tournament is a fixed, non-linear dungeon that changes every week. In this high level dungeon, mastery, cunning and skill will get you the highest score. Your score depends on the number of proofs of power which you get by killing monsters and opening chests within the 8 minute time limit. Each time you enter the tournament during the week, the conditions will be identical, allowing you to find the most efficient method to leave no survivors.

The tournament ends every Tuesday at 5 p.m. (Paris time) and the next tournament, completely different, appears at 7:15 p.m. Paris time. Give your best and fight to the end every week before the next tournament begins.

Show your power

The aim of the tournament is to show one’s power. THE proofs of power, which determine your overall score, can be obtained by killing hordes of monsters and opening chests. Pillars can increase the number of proofs you earn, either by multiplying your score or by respawning monsters you just killed. If pillars, linked to score, increase the number of proofs of power, shrines, linked to power, may also appear in the tournament. After killing a boss in the dungeon, a shrine will appear at the location where it was killed. Activate the Sanctuary to receive one of the different effects available, which will be the same each time the same boss is killed in the tournament.

Ferocity, efficiency and strategy are the keys to eternal glory in the tournament. Since this is a fixed dungeon, each time you enter during the same week, the layout of the dungeon will remain the same. It will be essential to try different routes and adjust your setup to master each week’s layout.

If you die in the tournament, you will be able to respawn, but you will lose a third of your score each time. However, you or your comrade will be able to recover all the proofs of power lost at the place of your last death by returning to the dungeon.

Seal your legend

As your score increases, your rank within the events also increases. Depending on your final score, you will get seals, proof of your tournament prowess for the past week. By earning seals, you prove your worth to other nomads. There are four types of seals you can get:

  • Seal of Slaughter
  • Seal of Firmness
  • Seal of the Iron Will
  • Seal of Merit

Most of you will strive for the Seal of Slaughter as a priority, while the Seal of Merit will only be awarded to the hardest players in the tournament. The score needed to obtain each seal varies from week to week, depending on the tournament layout and your class. These scores adapt according to the size of the group: larger groups will have an easier time obtaining a higher score than solitary players. They are therefore listed in a separate classification.

It will take perseverance to achieve the most prestigious seals. Mediocrity has no place among the elite.

Caches to loot

The only priority, through the bloody corridors of the tournament, is to gain proof of power. You will therefore only recover your loot at the end of the dungeon. Whether or not you obtained a seal, if you participate in the tournament, you will always obtain a minor cache after each game.

During the weekly tournament reset and depending on your best score, you will earn proof caches. The higher your score, the better cache you will get for that week. Trial Caches offer an ancient legendary item whose rank increases depending on the cache obtained. The Seal of Merit offers the most coveted treasures, as it guarantees obtaining level 925 items.

When you earn a higher-ranked seal, you still get the rewards of lower-ranked seals. The Seal of Merit grants all seal caches available for that week. You can also get multiple seals for the different available categories of the tournament.

Rankings and Ancestral Pantheon

Leaderboards are separated by class, group size, and mode (Normal or Extreme).

They can also be filtered by acquaintances and clan to see where you stand in relation to your loved ones. For those who want a more friendly competition, apply these filters to individual categories to see who your loved ones fear the most.

Class-specific categories will be reserved for solo players. This means that in total you will be able to attempt to conquer 16 weekly categories. Your best score across all classes, characters, and platforms will put you among the elite. You don’t need to enable cross-play for your score to appear on the leaderboards, but you do need to enable it to display that leaderboard in-game.

Note that the categories of each weekly ranking will be active as soon as the tournament arrives on March 5. However, we will wait until we have balanced the tournament based on your skills and abilities before launching it. Since this mid-season update brings changes to balance and the Seneschal Companion, we want to make sure to get your feedback and make adjustments as necessary. More information about the tournament will be revealed soon!

If you manage to rank among the top 100 in any category, you will also get the “Crimson of Conquest” mount trophy.

If you manage to climb among the first 10 places in one of the rankings, your name and your character will be immortalized in the Panthéon ancestralwhich will allow future nomads to admire your exploits.

Overcome the challenges and dominate the tournament when it launches on March 5.
