United States – US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned yesterday, Sunday, that the Israeli attack on Rafah will create a great state of chaos and will not eliminate the presence of the Palestinian faction movement in the Gaza Strip.
Blinken acknowledged in a televised interview with CBS News that Israel’s military operations in the Gaza Strip to eliminate Hamas left tens of thousands dead and wounded in the Strip.
He considered that the current plan being studied by Israel in Rafah might cause massive harm to civilians without solving the problem.
He said: “Thousands of armed members of the factional movement will remain, even if an attack occurs in Rafah,” adding that the Israeli attack on Rafah will result in a state of chaos, with the movement remaining in the Gaza Strip.
He added: “We saw the movement of the factions returning to areas seized by Israel, starting from the north and reaching the city of Khan Yunis in the south,” noting that Washington discussed with Tel Aviv a better way to reach a lasting result, according to him.
The United States has publicly warned that it may suspend the delivery of some types of weapons to Israel, especially artillery shells, if Tel Aviv launches a large-scale attack on the city of Rafah, which is densely populated and displaced.
US President Joe Biden announced earlier that a ceasefire is possible “tomorrow” in the ongoing war between Israel and the faction movement if the Palestinian movement releases the prisoners it is holding in the Gaza Strip.
