Blind testing of shots on Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Fold4

Hello.

Traditional blind testing, in which you can choose those photos that seem to you the most vivid, interesting and telling. Shooting only on the main module, in the “point and shoot” mode, no AI enhancements worked. This imposes a number of limitations, since when shooting in real life, many pictures might be improved. We also removed all technical defects, when one of the devices “smeared” so that you have the same pictures. The output of suitable frames is approximately the same, here everything is plus or minus equal, the automation worked well. The pictures were taken in Alma-Ata, in the mountains and not only. As a result, the scenes will be different, you will be able to fully appreciate the capabilities of the cameras.

It is important to understand that the S22 Ultra has a 108 megapixel module (hardware has existed for several years, it will not be further developed for flagships), the Fold4 has an updated 50 megapixel module, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max has 48 megapixels. And finally, the S23 Ultra has a completely new 200 megapixel module. Compare photos and choose the best ones, we tried to select pictures that are typical for each mode.

1. Flower and order number on the table.

2. Coffee on the table.

3. Airport, hall decoration.

A good shot to assess the capabilities of the camera, as there are different colors plus the ball is highlighted on the sides.

4. Wall in the restaurant, red brick.

5. Monument in the park.

6. Church and doves in front of her.

Evaluate what the architecture looks like.

7. Fountain in the park of Alma-Ata.

8. Sugar bowl on the table.

In my opinion, it is worth evaluating the picture as a whole and the elaboration of details on it.

9. Stems in a restaurant – not macro, but a short distance.

10. Portrait mode, woman spinning.

Background blur, portrait mode. Here it is worth looking at how the automation worked, and, as usual, choose with your eyes what you like best.

11. Bird and its owner.

Here the pictures are slightly different, since the bird might not pose for a long time, but the closest ones picked it up. Look at how bright the picture is and how it conveys the mood.

12. Top of the mountain – blue sky, bright enough day.

Surprisingly, while looking through the pictures, I caught myself thinking that some devices made the frame dark, the sky looks like a thunderstorm. In life, everything was much brighter. Look at the pictures and compare them.

13. Mug with sugar cubes.

Evaluate the texture of sugar, how detailed the picture is as a whole.

14. Vegetables on a plate.

Look at the brightness of the picture, color reproduction and details.

15. Camel in front of the restaurant, evening.

How detailed the texture of the camel is, how interesting the background is.

16. Gate without snow.

Evaluate how the picture has changed when there is no snow.

17. Playground at night.

18. Evening architecture, snow and spot lighting of the gate.

As I see this picture, the mood is important here, the fact that it is snowing and its flakes are slowly falling to the ground. Atmosphere.

I have already accumulated a lot more pictures, but this amount is enough for comparison, we will not abuse your time. These are typical camera capabilities, and you can see how they shoot from almost two dozen photos. At the end of the week we will sum up the voting results.
