Blast at Karachi University; Four people were killed, including Chinese nationals

Four people, including three Chinese nationals, have been killed in a bomb blast near the Pakistani university of Karachi. The bomber struck shortly following noon in a van near the university. The bomber struck shortly following noon in front of the Confucius Institute, a Chinese language training center. Two of the dead Chinese nationals were women. Huang Guiping, director of the institute, Ding Mupeng and Chen Za, and Khalid, a Pakistani driver, were killed. A local government spokesman said two people were injured.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed the Karachi Commissioner to submit a report. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed shock at the incident. No one has claimed responsibility for the blast. Earlier, separatist groups in Balochistan province launched attacks on Chinese nationals working in various parts of Pakistan following the announcement of a $ 60 billion economic corridor between China and Pakistan. This is not the first attack on Chinese citizens in Karachi. Last June, 12 Chinese engineers were killed in an attack on the vehicle of a dam construction worker in Pakistan.
