Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are one of the most iconic and beloved couples in Hollywood. Married since 2012, the couple does not hesitate to tease each other over social media, further endearing themselves to their fans. Over the years, their family has grown. Together, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have four children. They welcomed James, the one who made them parents for the first time in December 2014. This is usually a name given to a boy, but the couple wanted to honor James Reynolds, the actor’s father. Their second daughter, on the other hand, made her appearance in September 2016 and was given a more conventional name, as Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively chose to name her Inez.

Then, in October 2019, the couple’s family once again expanded with the arrival of Betty, their third daughter, whose name was revealed to the public rather unexpectedly thanks to the song “Betty” by Taylor Swift, a close friend of the couple. Finally, their fourth child was born in 2023, and this time the actor couple opted for discretion. They did not immediately reveal their child’s gender or name. Although it was eventually discovered that it was another girl thanks to the dad, it was only at the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine in New York, on Monday, July 22, that the information everyone had been waiting for was unveiled. Indeed, Ryan Reynolds, who resumed his role as Deadpool, wanted to thank his family for their support and took the opportunity to address a message to his wife and their four children. “Iwant to start by thanking my wife Blake, who is here”, he began before mentioning each of his children. “I want to thank my children James, Inez, Betty, Olin, who are here: I hope that, if I’m lucky, this moment will be the most traumatic thing, that is to say the content of this movie, that happens in your wonderful lives”, he joked.

A close-knit family

Olin is a name of Nordic origin that means “heir of an ancestor” or simply “heir”. According to the magazine Hello !, it is said to be a boy’s name, but after choosing James for their eldest, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were able to choose, this time too, a masculine name for their daughter. The actor has shared several times about his role as a dad, once during the Power Lunch show on CNBC. “Look, we wouldn’t do this four times if we didn’t love it. Everyone is doing really well. Everyone is doing fantastically well,” he shared about how he and his wife manage a large family. And regarding the couple’s desire to grow the family even more, Ryan Reynolds humorously assured the E! network that “The more, the merrier”: “As much as possible. As many little heartbeats as possible, just running all over the place, breaking everything in the house. I love it. Let’s do more!“, he concluded, still joking.
