Blake Griffin signs one-year contract with Boston Celtics

Free agent Blake Griffin has agreed a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics. That reports ESPN. The forward joins a contender. The Celtics, in turn, are reacting to their injury misery.

Griffin’s contract is said to be fully guaranteed. It is not yet known whether this is the veteran minimum for the 33-year-old.

The former highflyer joins the Celtics on frontcourt, where there is a need due to Danilo Gallinari’s cruciate ligament tear and center Robert Williams III’s knee surgery. Williams will be out for several months.

There is a lot of uncertainty at last season’s NBA finalist due to head coach Ime Udoka’s one-year ban. Nevertheless, Boston is one of the contenders for the championship next season.

Griffin is still missing a ring in his career. In twelve years in the league (LA Clippers, Detroit Pistons and most recently the Brooklyn Nets), he is still waiting to make it to the NBA Finals. Last season he averaged 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds.
