Blaise Melly: “If I leave in four years, it will be to win”
The Valais UDC, whose “Le Temps” previously followed the National Council campaign, reacted to its results hotly. Happy loser, he comes out fully motivated
He had to force himself a little, Blaise Melly. To shake hands, to campaign, to bring his head out of the shadows and from these issues that he loves. The Valais UDC was not elected to the National Council, for which it was running. And yet, it is the smile that dominates, in front of the party stamm in Sion, the results in: “I am very happy. I had no illusions, it would have been very difficult to be elected. At the start of the campaign, I thought I would finish fourth in my list, it’s a done deal,” reacts the man who is also head of the economics department at the University of Bern.

Rediscover the portrait of Blaise Melly
With 11,744 votes, he is delighted with the scores achieved in his region, between Sierre and Anniviers: “Where people know me, it went very well. Notoriety is almost all that matters, we see it with the strike force of the leavers.
Objective: municipal
Blaise Melly, already a member of the Valais Grand Council, says that “we will have to be patient, work” and that one day, it might “end up paying off”. Boosted by the votes collected, he is already waiting for another election: the municipal elections of 2024: “There has never been a UDC in the Sierre executive. Being the very first would make me really happy.” And the Federals of 2027? “It’s tempting. If I leave once more, it will be to win.”
