Burkina: Blaise Compaoré’s request for forgiveness featured in the newspapers
Ouagadougou July 27, 2022 (AIB) – This Wednesday’s Burkinabè newspapers give full coverage to ex-President Blaise Compaoré’s request for forgiveness from the Sankara family and the Burkinabe people.
“National reconciliation: Blaise Compaoré asks forgiveness from the people of Burkina Faso”, features the national daily, Sidwaya.
The newspaper reports that the President of Faso, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, received in audience, on Tuesday July 26, 2022 in Ouagadougou an Ivorian delegation, carrying a letter containing a message of forgiveness from the former President Blaise Compaoré for the acts committed during his presidency.
The bearers of the message were Ally Coulibaly, special minister-adviser to Ivorian President Alassane Dramane Ouattara and Djamila Compaoré, daughter of Blaise Compaoré, specifies the dean of the Burkinabè dailies, L’Observateur Paalga.
The newspaper Le Pays indicates that in the message read by the government spokesman, Lionel Bilgo, the former tenant of the Kosyam palace says he takes responsibility for his actions and asks forgiveness from the Burkinabè people in general and the family of Thomas Sankara in particular. .
In its section ” on the embers ” titled “Blaise Compaoré’s request for forgiveness from his compatriots: A step towards national reconciliation, which comes late”, the daily wonders if this ”address to the Nation” might move the fault lines between Burkinabè.
On the same subject, the newspapers also gave the floor to politicians, traditionalists, civil society actors and anonymous people who gave their opinions.
“Some accept it, others have reservations,” reports L’Observateur Paalga, which specifies that most of their interlocutors are willing to accept Blaise Compaoré’s act of contrition, but they have some reservations regarding the way in which the national reconciliation process is conducted.
“And if Blaise took Blandine Sankara at her word? asks the daily in its column ”view on the news” which reports the words of Sankara’s sister who wonders “Is this a way to ask for forgiveness? Blaise knows where the Sankara family is”, thus considering that this form of request for forgiveness from the former president is not the best indicated.
Affair “radical preaching” of Gon-Bousssougou: Minister Sourwèma apologizes “titles Sidwaya in another register.
Prime Minister Albert Ouédraogo received in audience the Minister of Religious and Customary Affairs, Issaka Sourwèma and the members of the Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina (FAIB), on July 26, 2022 in Ouagadougou.
On the menu of their exchanges, the controversy born of the correspondence sent by the minister in which he incriminated remarks of a radical and extremist nature of an imam in Gon-Bousssougou, indicates Le Pays.
The Paalga Observer reports that the holder of this morocco, Issaka Sourwèma, who recognized that there was a gap between the information that reached him and the offending sermon, presented his apologies to the imams as well as to all the Ummah.
