In the process of development for three years, last Tuesday (14), the eVTOL ALIA-250 electric flying taxi completed its first real test and flew over the New York metropolitan areaa significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between Blade Air Mobility and BETA Technologies.
The piloted EVA is one of the machines being tested to bring safe, quiet and sustainable air transportation to commercial travel passengers.
The vehicle also highlights sustainable features, being powered by an electric propulsion system with vertical takeoff and landing capability and a noise profile that promises a tenth of the sound decibel level of conventional helicopters, also aiming to reduce noise pollution in the areas urban.
The demonstration had an eVTOL and a helicopter taking off side by side. On the second lap, the electric vehicle flew over the area of a city airport alone to show the noise reduction between aircraft.
The vehicle promises to carry even 6 passengers at a timeand features a sleek, modern design with an array of features to ensure the highest levels of safety and comfort.
“Blade intends to deploy these initial aircraft on routes between its network of dedicated terminals in the US. BETA has also agreed to provide and install charging infrastructure at certain key locations,” reads the disclosure note.
