For the defendant, “I had borrowed the sum of 9,000 CFA francs from him. Since I didn’t have his money yet, that’s how he went to take my phone and requisitioned it. That’s normally what started the fight.”

Disguised as a “gangster” in the affront, Lélé, who is currently in a miserable state in the castle prison, deals a fatal blow by cutting off several fingers of the left arm of his friend involved in the fight with a machete.

“Since he made it clear that he wasn’t going to give me my phone back, I was the first to punch him. Then he took out a machete and hit me in the hand, pieces of my fingers fell off,” relate t-il.

A fight that would be, according to several sources, the beginning of the violence that the oil city went through on the evening of Friday, August 23. This fight would have taken place two days before, and at the end of it, Martial Jeffrey with his fingers would have gone to his mentor the alleged gang leader “la 46” to seek medical care. The latter would have given him a sum of money at the exit of the concert of “l’oiseau rare”. Unhappy with the health of his “good little one” attributable to the rival gang of “Azaria” the alert would have been given by the “46”, who would have sent his lieutenants to spread fear in the streets of Port-Gentil.

“My fingers were cut off, so I went to see my big guy from the neighborhood “la 46” who gave me 25,000 CFA francs to go to the hospital during the “l’oiseau rare” concert”, he continues.

If the health of the two alleged offenders is stable, they are peacefully awaiting their trial at the central prison of Port-Gentil.
